Abstract :
A 1 × 4 ultracompact AWG, based on Si-nanowires is proposed. In this configuration waveguides with couple of spirals are used instead of conventional AWG systems. Arrangement of spirals is in such a way that, not only makes it possible to reach a large lightpath in a small area, but also there is more freedom in size adjustment. Presented AWG has 4 channels with channel spacing of 0.2 nm and total size of less than 250 × 290 μm2.
