Abstract :
We have shown that reflection coefficient can be used to solve the impedance transformation problem along a transmission line, provided the normalised impedance/reflection coefficient equation can be easily solved. We have shown that the reflection coefficient can be plotted, and transformed, on an Argand Diagram. The Smith Chart is the superposition of normalised impedance contours for positive real impedances, and the corresponding reflection coefficients
