Abstract
This paper proposes a new real-time Ethernet MAC protocol that provides predictable packet delivery upper bounds for real-time traffic. Moreover, it is compatible with the conventional Ethernet CSMA/CD protocol. Thus, real-time stations can coexist with standard Ethernet stations in the same system and they can communicate with each other. The analysis and the simulation results show that the protocol is correct and effective.
