Abstract :
Most currently implemented production scheduling technologies are fully automated in powerful intelligent computer systems, controlled and operated by highly skilled planning staff. In this paper we present an alternative solution to scheduling, which involves the people that are usually being scheduled. The model we present, allows teams of production workers to schedule their own work. This scheduling activity is still supported by intelligent systems that consider all possible constraints and suggest alternatives to the teams, but the teams take the final scheduling decisions themselves
