Abstract
We present a new approach based on attenuated total reflection spectroscopy in the infrared using a very simple one-step extraction method. The method also enables the design of a microfluidic device that could perform the extraction by itself. First measurements were done with a Fourier-Transform-Infrared spectrometer. Saliva samples were taken from human test persons and then spiked with caffeine, COC and metabolites. Afterwards the drugs were extracted with an organic solvent immiscible with water. After the phase separation the drugs were measured in the organic solvent.
