  • Abstract
    The classical rate distortion (R-D) theories have been developed to study the relationship between the coding bit rate and signal distortion. However, with the development of the current mobile, wireless, distributed communication and the advanced audio and video coding technology, the constraints of the coding bit rate has become more and more weak while the constraints of the coding complexity has become more and more strong. Therefore, it is necessary to amend the traditional R-D model by incorporating the complexity constraints into the R-D framework. In this paper, a novel rate model was proposed to research the relationship among the coding bit rate, signal distortion and the complexity. The experimental results showed the accuracy of the proposed model.
