Abstract
This research investigates the relationship between IT and technology management capabilities. Can we identify differences in the organisational capabilities acquired or accumulated by firms according to the extent of their technology usage? A survey conducted with a group of SMEs finds that there is significantly more emphasis on technology management capabilities in firms with a higher level of IT penetration. These results raise the issue of the importance for firms to invest both in IT and in acquiring the organizational capabilities in technology management.<>
