Abstract :
This paper aims to compare the contributions of the thermal and electronic mechanisms to the refractive index changes (RIC) induced in the Yb-doped fiber amplifiers under different pumping conditions (cw or pulsed pumping) and amplifying signal behaviour. Experimental and theoretical studies show that RIC dynamics in the controlled fiber were found to be mainly determined by the population dynamics.
