Abstract
In this paper, various stochastic UWB channel models are considered. The impact of model selection on the ergodic and the outage capacity is studied for synthetic as well as for standardized UWB channel models. The work mainly focuses on comparing the capacities with those of a frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel, which is better suited for analysis. It is shown that the capacities of the Rayleigh fading channel are good approximations for the other models.
