Abstract
This paper presents an active inductor based LNA for the lower UWB communication bandwidth (3-5 GHz). Implemented in the CMOS 0.18 mum technology with a 1.8 V supply voltage, the presented LNA operates with a current consumption of 9.2 mA while occupying only 0.4 mm2 in chip area. This design can achieve 19.5 dB plusmn 1 dB power gain with a maximum Noise Figure of 4.1 dB across the entire bandwidth. A single passive inductor is used in the first stage input matching network and a source follower output buffer stage is also utilized providing S11<-7.8 dB and S22<-14 dB.
