  • Abstract
In the present paper are described experimental setups for air cleaning from gaseous toxic impurities on the base of pulsed electrophysical techniques. Toxic molecules removal occur when a gas medium is under the action of a pulsed electron beam or a pulsed glow discharge. These techniques were applied to the removal of CS2, SO2 and NOx molecules and volatile organic monomers from air. Conversion of organic compounds in a non-thermal plasmas created by an e-beam or a gas discharge may occur following different ways: via oxidative conversion and plasma chemical polymerization mechanisms. In the latter case it becomes possible to utilize polymer in production of polymer compositions. The results obtained in the above installations have shown that electrophysical techniques of air treatment provide high efficiency in the specific energy consumptions for removal one molecule of the toxic compound (of several tenth of eV per molecule). In the paper are described characteristics of electron beam accelerators and gas discharge devices used for air purification
