Abstract
The surface layer properties at ultrasonic plastic deformation are formed in the area of deformation created at impact introduction of the tool in a treated surface. The mathematical expressions connecting sizes of the area and distribution of a material deformation intensity in it´s limits with modes of processing are obtained. On an example of gray cast-iron the deformation process research is conducted, the range of process modes ensuring control of the surface layer forming is established
