Abstract :
In soil environmental science, local accuracy in high value area and the local singularity of contaminating elements in soil is particularly concerned, for it provides significant information for pollution assessment and analysis. Traditional geostatistics interpolation could not reflect those types of information accurately, attributing to its smoothing effect. In this paper, we applied multifractal method, which is considered to be a powerful tool to enhance local singularity, to study the spatial distribution of Arsenic in soil in Tongling, China. The results show that there is strong spatial self-similarity exhibited in pattern of Arsenic in the soil. The Comparison between maps of kriging and multifractal method indicates that the latter enhanced and retained the local structure, and could reflect the singularity of spatial distribution more effectively. The method can be widely applied to the study of spatial distribution of element in soil, especially the heavy metal in soil of mining city.
