Abstract
Different distribution system configurations using uninterruptible power supplies are reviewed. They are evaluated in terms of providing a reliable power supply, clean energy and maximum utilization of the distribution system (installed power) when feeding nonlinear, highly sensitive critical electronic equipment like computers and programmable logic controllers. A typical distribution system´s quality problems and solutions are discussed. A generalized per unit formula is obtained and used to estimate neutral to ground potential that affects sensitive loads. Overall performance indexes regarding reliability and power quality are estimated for four distribution schemes. Power quality issues are supported by experimental in a critical nonlinear load distribution systems
