Abstract
Nonlinear characteristics of a cylindrical Cherenkov laser are investigated via particle simulation. The results obtained are compared with those for a parallel plate waveguide (2-D) model and those for a rectangular waveguide model. Then, we propose an improved 2-D model where the growth characteristics are the same as those for the cylindrical model. The validity of the model proposed is confirmed by numerical examples.
