Abstract :
A design concept for an RF power supply using DC-DC converters without large filter capacitors and crowbar circuits is proposed. The RF power supply is designed to yield smooth voltage and, fast turn-off and turn-on output characteristics. System simulation and a small experimental model confirm these qualities. A 2-MW (-100 kV, 20-A) power-supply design is introduced, and its realization and total efficiency are also discussed
