  • Abstract
Diode rectifiers were studied since the beginning of power electronics. They were simulated by several methods. This paper presents a new method for the simulation of three-phase diode rectifiers adapted to system simulator software. The model is relatively simple and accurate and is well adapted to the association of this device with electrical machines. Two different situations are analyzed in this paper. In the first case there is a voltage circuit on the DC side, i.e., there is a capacitor on the DC side of the rectifier. In the second situation an inductance is present on the DC side. This two different cases leads to different approaches. MatLab/Simulink is used to integrate the differential equations leading to the representation of the model in block diagrams. Simulation results are presented showing good accuracy on the representation of the diode rectifier in several aspects including the simultaneous conduction of two diodes in the commutation process
