Abstract :
Proper inverter operation is often only possible with the help of snubber circuits. Snubber inverter design is a time consuming task requiring trade-offs between critical circuit parameters. The program DISCO/W calculates standard RC dissipative snubbers and low loss energy recovering snubbers (in either single capacitor or three pole configurations) and, using the Microsoft Windows 95(R) Graphic User Interface, helps the designer in the selection of the best design trade-offs in a completely interactive way. DISCO/W generates a listing of the snubber components in a SPICE compatible file to simplify further simulation work. Relevant design variables can be shown as three-dimensional plots, giving useful insight about the complex way in which these variables interact
