Abstract :
This paper describes the hardware and software implementation method of the distributed and collaborative telemachining system connected with the computer network. Concerning the hardware system, a machining center with an open-architecture CNC, high rigidity force sensor and fail-safe table are mentioned. In particular, the hardware fail-safe capability is crucial to realize a tele-machining system. A hierarchical multi-agent software system was proposed and implemented to realize a distributed and cooperative tele-machining system with multi-modal information presentation capability. Collaborative telemachining experiments were executed to evaluate the implemented system
