Abstract
This study develops an extended Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach to assess quality cost of packaging machinery from technical perspectives. Evaluation criteria for quality assurance cost, quality loss cost and comprehensive technical requirements are introduced for analyzing technica1 requirements that transform from customer needs. The packaging machinery design example uses 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 Likert-type arbitrary scale to build the relational matrix R between customer quality requirements and technical requirements. AHP is used to calculate and normalize different quality requirement weights. It is showed that the extended QFD mode1 can analyze product quality cost effectively and rapidly.
