Abstract
A design of a geophone sensor for the shallow water undersea surveillance application is presented. A recent sea experiment in which a V-shaped array of these sensors was deployed is described. Results on the coupling performance of the sensors and the response of the array to local noise sources are presented. Both conventional and adaptive beam forming algorithms have been examined. Measurements of the response of the array to impacts on the sea-bed at moderate distances from the array are described. Plans for further work are explained
