  • Abstract
Grey system theory (Deng Ju-Long et al. 1988) is a scientific theory newly developed in the system science field. Its scientific thinking and research method have permeated various fields and been applied in China. The characteristics of grey modeling in environmental geology are discussed and some examples given in the paper. Applications include: landslide; earthquake; evaluation of groundwater quality; land subsidence; pollution of city water; and prognosis of the production of world natural gas. The results show the promise and future of grey system in environmental geology. In order to check these results, the Poisson cycle model is also introduced
