Abstract :
A testbed for metropolitan area network technology and broadband communications was implemented with service nodes interconnected by an implicit token-passing dual bus built with a single-mode fiber-optic transmission system currently operating at 140 Mb/s. The management of the network is performed by centralized manager software supporting configuration management, fault management, performance management, and accounting management. A graphic window-based human interface is provided for a network administrator to access the monitoring and analysis tools. Network management is based on a hierarchy of management domains, each with logically independent domain managers
