Abstract :
Flux barrier type synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM), which obtains equal performance with an induction motor has attracted some attention. However, the torque ripple of SynRM is comparatively large in general. This paper describes the decrease of the torque ripple of the SynRM. The relation between the torque ripple and the width of the slit in the stator slots is examined. The torque to various core shapes is calculated by using the finite element method (FEM). As a result, the torque ripple is minimized when there is no slit, and the torque ripple of a cylindrical type is smaller than that of the salient-pole type.
