Abstract :
The Indonesian Railway Company has operated commuter trains based on variable-voltage variable-frequency (VVVF) AC traction motor drives since 1992. After an 8 year period, the total number of commuter trains that are operated is 38 train sets. This paper describes the operational experiences that have been gained during the 8 years of operation. Several measures to solve the problems encountered during that time are also described.
