Abstract :
Within the European project GEOSTAR (funded by the European Union in the framework of the Marine Science and Technology Programme-MAS3-CT95-007) the German participants have developed, manufactured and tested a new deep sea intervention system. The aim of this part of the overall project is to deploy and recover heavy loads such as the first prototype of an innovative deep sea benthic observatory at abyssal depths (4000 m.w.d.) with an innovative underwater communications system
