Abstract :
In this paper, we develop a face recognition method based on sparse representation for recognizing 2.5D facial range images. First, to enable the application of the sparse representation, a simple strategy that establishes correspondence among a set of 3D face models is proposed. Then we present a feature ranking scheme to improve the robustness to facial expressions. Finally, we test the proposed 2.5D facial range image recognition to the CAIAS 3D face database. Experimental results show that it is feasible to utilize sparse representation on facial range image recognition.
