Abstract
To achieve good temperature stability of a dielectric resonator oscillator, properties of tuning mechanism must be considered. Sensitivity analysis by Higashi and Makino (1) gives formulas for desired action of the DR tuning gap for given temperature stability as a good starting point. A new set of design equations has been derived in the present work to achieve desired action of the tuning gap by proper dimensioning and choice of metalls used for mechanical construction according to dilatation coefficients. The Higashi - Makino sensitivity analysis of the DRO circuit has two problems: insufficient accuracy od frequency and of the tuning slope. Synthesis of the DRO circuit must be added to complete the whole design work. A new design strategy has been found by modelling, measurement and computer-aided evaluation and design to improve the accuracy.
