Abstract :
Customer network management (CNM) is a new type of network management capability that allows customers to work with the network operating company and become involved with network management. We have studied how to improve or enhance CNM services for data networks, and have implemented a prototype CNM system, called the customer data-network management system (CDMS) for NTT´s packet switching service. Since the system is to be used mainly for service consultants, services and management information are added or slightly modified from related standards, i.e., ITU-T Rec. X.162. We present our CNM concepts and experiences obtained from CDMS. We also discuss how to enhance CNM for B-ISDN services
