Abstract :
In this research, we develop a human-interface for a human to specify the moving direction and the speed to a machine by recognizing the gesture of an operator to command another person to move an object to a specified direction. This system is constructed with a direction recognizing mode and motion continuation mode. In the direction recognizing mode, the larger amplitude is selected in the amplitude of the fingertip along the two coordinate axes. And the direction which has the faster maximum velocity is selected as the specified direction. In the motion continuation mode, the motion is cyclic. On the phase plane of fingertip position, observing the trajectory of the fingertip, this system can recognize if the motion is continuing or not and changes of the specified speed. This system recognizes the command of a operator at real-time and displays the recognition result on CRT
