Abstract :
This paper studies the impact of resource reservation on the multipath quality-of-service (QoS) routing schemes that use the global network state to make routing decisions. Incorporating resource reservation into multipath QoS routing algorithms greatly changes the communication characteristics in a network system and affects the performance of the routing algorithms. In this paper, we develop a QoS routing protocol that combines resource reservation with the ticket-based distributed multipath QoS routing scheme, evaluate the new routing protocol through extensive simulation, and study the impact of other network components, such as the network size and the link state update mechanisms, on the performance of multipath QoS routing schemes with resource reservation
