Abstract :
Next generation wireless communications will likely rely on integrated networks using efficient multiple wireless technologies. When an MS scans several neighboring APs in a hotspot area, it takes more time. Also, selecting a target AP causes a long delay and has packet loss problems. We propose a scanning algorithm to reduce ETE delay, which defines the maximum scanning interval consisting of the users requirement. If an MS cannot scan all APs that are nearby, it scans the remainder at the next scanning time. And, we propose a soft handover method using two different network interfaces at the same time for QoS support in heterogeneous networks. The user can get a seamless streaming service as maintained throughput using two interfaces. The simulation results show throughput and delay of MS using OPNET modeler.
