Abstract :
Microstrip Inset Guide [M.I.G.] offers interesting possibilities as either antenna feed or / and millimetric transmission media for the purpose of source integration. The use of multiple dielectric layers and the positioning of the strip at any interface provides additional control if the guide is to be operated in either mode. We present a rigourous hybrid analysis of a typical structure with buried strip between two different dielectrics, with details of dispersion, characteristic impedance, conduction losses and field distribution. Numerical and experimental data are in excellent agreement.
