Abstract :
The localised loss in a 1000 kVA distribution transformer core model has been computed with the aid of a 386 microprocessor based personal computer using novel software. Overall core loss in the transformer model has been computed to be 1371 W at core flux density of 1.6 T. The loss measured in a commercial transformer core of similar geometry and rating was 1299 W thus giving a discrepancy of 5.6%
