Abstract :
During transmission of data in Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN), security and privacy are considered as main characteristics to provide confidential data. The absence of network security may lead to loss of data, resulting in an adversary to bring in bogus data or altering the legitimate data. To avert physical layer attacks like jamming, in this paper, we propose an authentication mechanism using CDMA modulation technique. Further more, we present a secure key management technique for WBAN which is being advanced to multilevel. Initially, sensor nodes use a shared symmetric key. When a node wants to join a network, it transmits a request message, which is tamper proof by the Message Authentication Code (MAC) to the intermediate control node. The intermediate control node sends the request to master node. The master server verifies the MAC master key for the node and sends it to the intermediate control node. The encryption and decryption are done at two different levels which includes transmission level and master server level. Our authentication technique presents data confidentiality and integrity in WBANs in data link layer and physical layer.
