Abstract :
The paper presents the results of the computation of the propagation parameters (eigenvalue and attenuation constant) of the modes in circular waveguide partially filled with a dielectric ring. A new classification of the modes considering their propagating characteristics is introduced. The numerical results are presented under a normalized form which allows a general applicability for designing resonators and filters. Ohmic and dielectric contributions to the attenuation constant have been represented separately, again suitably normalized; criteria for selecting geometrical dimensions in order to minimize losses are discussed.
