Condition and design assessment of wood pole overhead lines

This paper considers issues relating to the development and implementation of a condition and assessment strategy for existing overhead lines. The specifics of which consider both the component and design reliability of the construction for its particular geographical location in order to formulate economic and effective solutions. The process can then be used to provide a ´virtual age´ of the overhead line and therefore allow lines to be compared to others in priority for both maintenance and refurbishment activities
