Abstract
Relates to a method of processing a digital image representing ribbon-shaped objects of nonuniform intensity contrasting with a background of smaller intensity, which includes an automatic segmentation phase. We have given an image segmentation algorithm, object sizes unknown, based on morphological operation. The morphological operators use adapting size apertures for different image parts The algorithm has been implemented and executed on a set of grey-scale images.
