Abstract
A probe-fed stacked plate antenna with a stub is proposed for CMMB terrestrial Single Frequency Network (SNF) applications. The radiating plates, which act as typical radiators, are designed based on standard rules for designing conventional microstrip antennas. To obtain 50 Ohm impedance matching, a rectangular stub is attached to one of the radiating edges of the main plate and is coplanar with the main plate. By tuning the stub, the input resistance and reactance can be easily determined. This method is used to design a rectangular suspended probe-fed stacked plate antenna. Experimental results show that this design is capable of achieving a VSWR 1.1:1 impedance bandwidth of about 7.5%, relatively stable radiation patterns, and a gain level of about 9.6 dBi. The high gain and low VSWR make it suitable for CMMB terrestrial SNF applications.
