Abstract
The emergence of telemedicine and the implementation of wireless networks in the medical field has requested for research into how we can best make use of wireless technology and provide the patient with robust, accurate and portable solutions. This paper describes the implementation of a Medical Information System that allows medical instrumentation data to be accessed, to support remote primary care, and for remote diagnostic consultation. Embedded platforms are used for the Medical Information Nodes that communicate with medical instruments and medical Information centre. This paper presents the moduling concepts of a CDMA-based mobile telemedical system. The modular design of the mobile Medical Information Nodes is portable and facile for user. Experimental test using blood pressure and heart rate signals shows the successful multichannel mobile transmission of the medical data with low bit error rates. The design procedure presented here provides a generalized framework for the design of next generation mobile telemedical system using CDMA and embedded technology.
