Abstract :
The author presents a throughput and delay analysis of unslotted ALOHA with variable length packets and its variants, selective-repeat ALOHA and go-back-N ALOHA. The analysis incorporates data link control protocols in the random synchronous time division multiplexing mode. Channel error defects are included in the analysis to reflect applications in satellite communications using very small aperture terminals (VSAT)
