Abstract
We did carotid artery measures by use of color Doppler ultrasound in 33 adolescents. The results showed that around the carotid artery, jugular and carotid artery diameter, the intima-media thickness, blood pulsatility index (PI) and blood resistance index (Rl) in obese adolescents were higher than those in control group, and peak diastolic blood velocity (Vd) in obese group slower than that in control group. Alterations in the pulsatile behavior of the vasculature may be a sensitive marker to detect arterial changes related to CV risk factors.
