Abstract :
This paper presents a hybrid system for an autonomous mobile robot that communicates with people in its surroundings throughout the use of vocal messages. The system is capable of integrating different paradigms of representation: procedural, symbolic and sub-symbolic for plan selection, adaptation and execution: it is hybrid in this senses. In the paper however, we focus on the part of the system that deals specifically, with the representation of vocal messages and with the set of procedures that allow the robot to express itself while it carries out the tasks required. Some examples of how the system works in real situations are also illustrated
