Abstract :
A number of components and modules for space applications are developed and realised on Alumina and Aluminum-Nitride substrates using thinfilm technology. At Ku-band frequencies, Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA), Power Amplifiers, and Beam Forming Networks (BFN) are given as typical representatives. New combinations are presented of Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC), High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMT) and Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) for RF-, control- and bias elements. The integration of these circuits within a module or component reduces evidently overall dimensions, mass and manufacturing costs. The increased reliability is another important aspect of these configurations. All developments are supported by ESA/ESTEC.
