Abstract
In this paper, an applicator of dielectric rod waveguide for the microwave heating is described. The applicator consists of acrylic cylinder filled with deionized water as dielectric. By circulating the deionized water, the dielectric rod applicator acts as the surface cooling device, so that it doesn´t need any bolus, and useful pattern of the effective heating region measured by heating experiment was obtained, which was circular or spheroidal shape and axially symmetric. This surface cooling function enables dielectric rod applicator to control the site of effective heating regions along the depth axis.
