Abstract :
A novel compact ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with Bluetooth pass band and dual notched bands for wireless applications is presented. The low-profile antenna comprises of a pentagonal-shaped patch for covering UWB band (3.1~10.6 GHz). A lower pass band, 2.4 GHz Bluetooth band (2.4~2.484 GHz), can be realized by etching a pair of meander slot at the both sides of ground plane without affecting its UWB behavior. By etching a U-shaped slot on the radiator and symmetrically employing two parasitic strips at each side of the radiator, two-band rejected filtering properties in the WLAN are achieved. The proposed antenna is designed and built on a FR-4 substrate, with overall size of 26 mm×30 mm. Experimental results show that the designed antenna successfully adds a pass band of 2.4 GHz Bluetooth band and two rejection bands of 5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN. Moreover, the antenna has good omnidirectional radiation patterns in the H-plane.
