Abstract :
In order to appraise the molding effect of the Hamburg wheel tracking device, this paper designs the comparative experiment and molds two test samples of Sup-20 gradation asphalt mixture by the Hamburg wheel tracking device and the wheel grind molding device separately. Then obtains the cross section images of the cutted samples by using a digital camera and extracts the features of the coarse aggregate particles by using digital image processing techniques. Further more, this paper calculates the orientation angle distribution of the coarse aggregate particles and appraises the molding effect of the Hamburg wheel tracking device through the comparative analysis of orientation angle distribution curves of the two samples. The results shows that the molding effects of the Hamburg wheel tracking device is better than the wheel grind molding device.
