Relay protection simulation requires real-time, flexibility and high fidelity. According to the characteristics of hydropower station simulation training, general structure of hydropower station relay protection simulation training system is firstly designed. Secondly, data concept model for hydropower station relay protection simulation training system is built by using entity-relation approach, now that data model is the basis for simulation implementation. Finally, by means of object-oriented method, protection simulation model software as the kernel of this relay protection simulation training system is designed carefully. Protection class diagram and fault simulation sequence diagram are designed. The designs of system structure, data model and protection simulation model are both divisive and relative. They assure real-time, flexibility and high fidelity from different views, and are successfully applied for a certain large hydropower station´s relay protection simulation training system.
