Abstract :
ZigBee wireless networks have been extensively researched on recently. For the purpose of making ZigBee walk out of laboratory and becoming more practical in automatic meter reading (AMR) system, we make some favorable improvements both on the hardware and the software of ZigBee technology. In hardware aspect, we amplify transmit power and enhance receiver sensitivity in order to establish point-to-point communication link which is a basic condition for constructing complex wireless network. In software aspect, we present a novel address assignment and an improved routing protocol based on different packet types of AMR system for less data latency and better transmission reliability. Finally we implement our AMR system in practice and verify our scheme can achieve better performance by real experiment.
