Abstract :
An extension of the FDTD method to include magnetized ferrites is applied to the calculation of scattering parameters of ferrite-loaded waveguides which are transversally magnetized. The treatment of the ferrite material is based on the discretization of the equation of motion using Gilbert´s approximation of the damping term. Optimized second order absorbing boundary conditions are used to implement the matched ports in the waveguides. Scattering parameters obtained for rectangular waveguides loaded with ferrite slabs are compared with those provided by mode matching technique.
